Dekan FEB Unusia Jajaki Kerjasama Internasional: Audiensi dengan Dubes RI di Mesir

Cairo, Egypt — The Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) at Nahdlatul Ulama University of Indonesia (Unusia), Dr. Muhammad Aras Prabowo, S.E., M.Ak., explored opportunities for international collaboration during an audience with the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Egypt, Kuncoro Giri Waseso, at the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Cairo, Egypt, on October 27, 2026.

The meeting addressed prospects for educational development, the enhancement of student competencies, international internship programs, and the strengthening of institutional ties with Indonesia’s diplomatic missions abroad. This initiative is expected to provide FEB Unusia students with access to professional experience while broadening their perspectives on work practices and international relations.

During the audience, Kuncoro Giri Waseso explained that the Indonesian Embassy in Cairo has previously provided internship opportunities for students from various Indonesian universities. Similar opportunities are now being explored for FEB Unusia students, allowing them to gain work experience within an Indonesian diplomatic mission in Egypt.

Aras welcomed this opportunity as part of an effort to improve the quality of FEB Unusia graduates. He noted that an internship within a diplomatic environment could serve as a platform for students to develop competencies in economics, business, accounting, administration, institutional governance, and cross-cultural communication.

"The Indonesian Embassy in Cairo is open to accepting student interns from Indonesia, including those from FEB Unusia," Aras stated following the audience.

According to Aras, an international internship experience can broaden students' understanding of professional work practices and foster the internationalization of higher education. Furthermore, Egypt offers a unique learning environment for students to examine comparative economic practices across different nations, with a particular focus on Islamic economics. “This collaboration opens up opportunities for students of the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) at Unusia to explore and compare economic concepts across borders, with a particular focus on Islamic economics in Egypt,” he explained.

The meeting took place during a visit to the Indonesian Embassy in Cairo by Prof. Dr. KH. Ahmad Thib Raya, M.A., Director of the *Pendidikan Kader Ulama* (Ulama Cadre Education) program at the Istiqlal Mosque (PKUMI). The visit was related to the supervision of 54 participants of the Ulama Cadre Education program who are attending a short course at Al-Azhar University, Egypt. On this occasion, Aras expressed his appreciation to Kuncoro Giri Waseso and the staff of the Indonesian Embassy in Cairo—including the Attaché for Education and Culture, Dr. Abdul Muta’ali; the Director of PKUMI, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Thib Raya; and the Coordinator for Information and Cultural Affairs, Muhammad Nursalim.

This initiative underscores the importance of synergy between higher education institutions, educational bodies, and Indonesia’s diplomatic missions in strengthening human resource development. For FEB Unusia, this opportunity is part of an effort to enhance the quality of education and the competitiveness of its graduates, ensuring that students not only master theories in economics, business, and accounting but also gain practical experience and a global perspective.

Moving forward, FEB Unusia is expected to follow up on this opportunity through inter-institutional communication and discussions regarding the mechanisms for an internship program, in accordance with the regulations in place at the Indonesian Embassy in Cairo. This step aligns with Unusia’s commitment to developing higher education that is globally competitive, while remaining firmly rooted in Islamic values, Indonesian identity, and a dedication to serving society.
