Jakarta — Two lecturers from Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Indonesia (Unusia), Maisaroh Harahap, M.H., and Nur Setyaningrum, M.S.I., have been selected as recipients of the 'Indonesia Bangkit' Scholarship (Beasiswa Indonesia Bangkit/BIB)—a program for domestic doctoral degree completion—organized by the Ministry of Religious Affairs in collaboration with the Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP). This achievement serves as positive news for Unusia and supports the development of academic capacity among the university's faculty.
Maisaroh is a lecturer in the Ahwal Syakhshiyah (Islamic Family Law) study program within the Faculty of Law, while Nur Setyaningrum is from the Islamic Religious Education study program within the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education. Both are committed to completing their doctoral studies and advancing their respective fields of expertise to benefit their students, the university, and the broader community.
Maisaroh noted that the scholarship is highly significant in supporting the completion of her doctoral studies. She is committed to finalizing her dissertation according to her established timeline, while also further developing the study of Islamic family law to ensure it remains relevant to contemporary societal issues.
"I want the field I study—specifically Islamic family law—to become more closely aligned with the challenges faced by society, and to enrich the material I teach to my students," said Maisaroh.
She hopes that this support will allow her to focus more effectively on her research and enhance her contributions upon completing her studies. Beyond providing better guidance to her students, she aims to be more active in producing impactful research and contributing to the development of Unusia through her academic work and collaborations.
Echoing Maisaroh’s sentiments, Nur Setyaningrum views the 'Indonesia Bangkit' scholarship as both a responsibility and a form of support for completing her ongoing doctoral studies. She is committed to producing a dissertation that not only meets academic requirements but also delivers tangible benefits to the campus community. “I am committed to developing the field of study I specialize in, so that I may contribute to strengthening academic disciplines at Unusia—whether through research, scholarly publications, or community service,” said Nur.
Nur hopes that this opportunity will support her professional growth as a more productive lecturer and researcher. She also intends to apply the knowledge and experience gained during her studies toward the advancement of Unusia—specifically by enhancing the quality of the ‘tridarma’ (the three pillars of higher education: teaching, research, and community service) and fostering academic development rooted in Islamic and Indonesian values.
Fatkhu Yasik, Unusia’s Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, welcomed the achievement of the two lecturers. According to him, this success demonstrates the competitiveness of Unusia’s faculty in securing support to complete their doctoral studies.
“The fact that these lecturers have been selected is certainly great news for Unusia. It shows that our faculty members are highly competitive, as evidenced by their success in receiving doctoral study completion grants from the Ministry of Religious Affairs,” he stated.
Fatkhu expressed his hope that both Maisaroh and Nur would honor this support by completing their studies on time. He noted that their expertise is highly valued within their respective departments; therefore, the completion of their doctoral studies is expected to strengthen both academic capacity and scholarly development at Unusia.
Unusia continues to prioritize the development of its academic human resources as part of its broader effort to strengthen higher education. By enhancing faculty qualifications and fostering continuous academic development, Unusia aims to further improve the quality of its education, research, and community service.
