Cairo, Egypt – The Faculty of Economics and Business at Nahdlatul Ulama University of Indonesia (FEB Unusia) is expanding its international network through a collaboration with the South Sulawesi Family Association (Kerukunan Keluarga Sulawesi/KKS) in Cairo, Egypt. This partnership is aimed at strengthening academic diplomacy, developing the capacity of Indonesian students abroad, and implementing the "Tri Dharma" (the three pillars of higher education—education, research, and community service) on an international scale.
The collaboration was formalized through the signing of a Cooperation Agreement (Perjanjian Kerja Sama/PKS) between the Dean of FEB Unusia, Dr. Muhammad Aras Prabowo, M.Ak., and the leader of KKS Egypt, Muhammad Auflah Khalifah, Lc. The partnership is further reinforced by two Implementation Arrangements (IA) involving the Accounting and Islamic Economics study programs at FEB Unusia.
Dean of FEB Unusia, Dr. Muhammad Aras Prabowo, stated that international cooperation should be directed toward activities that provide tangible benefits, both in terms of academic development and community empowerment.
"The internationalization of higher education should not stop at the signing of documents. Cooperation must lead to knowledge transfer, scientific publications, the strengthening of financial literacy, and the empowerment of the diaspora. We aim to establish Cairo as a hub for the development of scholarship and international community service for FEB Unusia," he said.
Representing KKS Egypt, Muhammad Auflah Khalifah welcomed the collaboration. He noted that the Indonesian diaspora community in Egypt possesses the potential to contribute to the intellectual, social, and economic capacity building of Indonesian students.
Support for this partnership was also expressed by the respective study programs at FEB Unusia. The Head of the Islamic Economics Study Program, Asiroch Yulia Agustina, M.E.I., views the collaboration as an opportunity to advance research in Islamic economics, financial literacy, and community empowerment by leveraging the Islamic scholarly environment in Cairo. Meanwhile, the Head of the Accounting Study Program, Habsyah Fitri Aryani, M.Ak., emphasized the importance of strengthening financial management competencies and accountability among Indonesian students abroad. This collaboration is expected to foster research-based community service initiatives that yield scholarly publications while simultaneously benefiting the community.
The partnership, which will span three years, encompasses the fields of education, research, community service, human resource development, and international scholarly publication. This collaboration also serves as part of a series of International Community Service (PkM) activities conducted by the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) at Unusia in Egypt.
Through this partnership, FEB Unusia is expanding its scope of collaboration with the Indonesian diaspora community, while also advancing the implementation of the "Tri Dharma" (the three pillars of higher education)—namely education, research, and community service—to achieve a broader impact. This initiative is part of Unusia’s broader effort to build an international academic network and strengthen the university’s contributions within the global community.
