Jakarta — Mohammad Hasan Basri, M.A., Ph.D., Secretary of the Doctoral Program in the History of Islamic Civilization and a lecturer in the History of Islamic Civilization (SPI) at Nahdlatul Ulama Indonesia University (Unusia), has been selected to participate in the Visiting Research program organized by the Nahdlatul Ulama Higher Education Institute (LPTNU) in Uzbekistan.

Hasan Basri is one of four participants chosen through a selection process involving approximately 65 applicants from higher education institutions affiliated with Nahdlatul Ulama (NU). For the program, Hasan Basri is presenting research titled "Reading Sahih al-Bukhari Ecologically: Constructing the Concept of Eco-Sunnah." This research forms part of the study agenda he will develop during the Visiting Research program in Uzbekistan.

"As a delegate from Unusia, I intend to make the most of this program as a starting point for building collaborations with researchers and relevant institutions, aiming to enhance research and publication capacities across institutions in both Indonesia and Uzbekistan," said Hasan Basri.

The four participants arrived in Tashkent on September 9, 2026, and will stay in Uzbekistan for one month. The program is being conducted in collaboration with the Imam Maturidi Scientific Research Center and the Imam Bukhari Scientific Research Center. While in Uzbekistan, the participants will write papers in collaboration with researchers from these two study centers.

In addition to conducting research, the participants will also conduct seminars and guest lectures at various institutions. The program serves as an opportunity to foster academic and research partnerships with several institutions in Uzbekistan, including the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan in Tashkent and the Silk Road International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage in Samarkand.

On September 15, 2026, Hasan Basri and the other participants began their research activities at the Imam Maturidi Scientific Research Center. This center serves as one of the venues for academic activities during the Visiting Research program. For Hasan Basri, participation in this program also offers an opportunity to build academic relationships with researchers and relevant institutions in Uzbekistan. Hasan Basri’s participation in this Visiting Research program is expected to serve as a gateway for Unusia to establish networks and academic collaborations with researchers and relevant institutions in Uzbekistan. Through the research experience and collaboration gained during the program, these academic ties can be directed toward strengthening research and publication efforts between institutions in Indonesia and Uzbekistan.
