Jakarta — The Faculty of Nusantara Islam (FIN) at Nahdlatul Ulama Indonesia University (Unusia) and the Center for Human Resources Development (PPSDM) at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta have agreed to collaborate on the establishment and development of the Nishan World Center for Confucian Studies. This agreement is part of efforts to strengthen academic collaboration, uphold the "Tridharma" (Three Pillars) of Higher Education, and expand international cooperation networks.

The partnership was formalized through a Cooperation Agreement signed at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. Representatives from Unusia, Ahmad Su’adi and Siti Nabilah, attended the event. Under the agreement, FIN Unusia and PPSDM UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta became the co-founders of Nishan. Nishan operates as an integrated entity under the auspices of PPSDM UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, with its main secretariat located within the PPSDM complex.

Nishan was established as a research institute aimed at facilitating and developing strategic dialogue between Islam in Indonesia and the teachings and traditions of Confucianism. The institute is also tasked with fostering research, scholarly discussions, seminars, and academic publications that bring together cross-cultural and interfaith perspectives.

Beyond academic study, Nishan is intended to contribute to global peace issues related to human security. The institute aims to serve as a platform for the exchange of knowledge and ideas regarding interfaith and intercultural relations, as well as various humanitarian issues.

The collaboration between FIN Unusia and PPSDM UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta also encompasses enhancing human resource quality and capacity in education and instruction, joint research, seminars, conferences, scholarly publications, and community service. Furthermore, the collaboration includes the development of education and training programs, workshops, and academic discussions, as well as the exchange of experts, lecturers, researchers, and other resources. Regarding the development of international cooperation, both parties have agreed to establish networks with universities, research institutions, international organizations, cultural centers, and other relevant entities. Collaborative activities may be developed through mobility programs, visiting lecturer and researcher arrangements, joint research, joint publications, and other international initiatives, in accordance with applicable regulations.

This partnership is part of FIN Unusia’s efforts to expand the scope of academic collaboration while fostering interfaith and cross-cultural studies. Through Nishan, Unusia—in collaboration with PPSDM UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta—is creating a platform that brings together the study of Islam and Confucianism, cross-cultural dialogue, and issues concerning global peace.
