Jakarta — Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Indonesia (Unusia) hosted a delegation from Soka Gakkai International (SGI)—an international organization linked to the philosophy and movement developed by Daisaku Ikeda—at the Unusia Rectorate office in Jakarta on Friday (September 11). The meeting served as a step toward exploring potential cooperation in the realms of spirituality and world peace.

The delegation was welcomed by Ahmad Su’adi, Chair of the Unusia Senate. During the meeting, Unusia and the SGI delegation discussed various ideas that could be developed through academic collaboration and the promotion of peace-oriented values. A key topic of discussion was a comparison between the philosophies of Daisaku Ikeda and Abdurrahman Wahid (Gus Dur), particularly regarding their views on spirituality, humanity, dialogue, and efforts to build peace amidst diversity.

The proposed collaboration encompasses several planned activities, including the publication of a book highlighting the thoughts and ideas of both figures, the hosting of international seminars, and joint promotional efforts related to spirituality and world peace. These initiatives aim to create a platform for the exchange of ideas between the perspectives cultivated within Unusia and SGI’s international network.

The visit by the SGI delegation also opens opportunities for Unusia to develop collaborations that extend beyond purely academic activities, focusing instead on strengthening discourse around peace, humanity, and coexistence within the global community.

Through this exploratory process, Unusia continues to open avenues for collaboration with various parties, aiming to expand the university's contribution to the advancement of knowledge, cross-cultural dialogue, and the reinforcement of values ​​regarding peace and humanity.
